The six-time all star, New York Mets third baseman David Wright, is engaged to his model girlfriend Molly Beers, a source confirmed Sunday. They have been dating since 2008 and tied the knot over the holidays. No wedding date has yet been announced.
30-year-old David put a ring on Molly’s finger just several weeks after signing a massive eight-year, $138 million contract extension with the Mets in December, seemingly making him a Met for life.
“I’d like to finish what I’ve started,” he declared when he signed the extension — with Beers and his parents beaming beside him.
With this new contract extension, he will continue to be the face of the organization.
The happy couple was seen together at Wright’s fundraiser in Virginia on Friday as he hosted Vegas Night to benefit Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
Wright and Beers, an Arizona native, have been dating since at least 2008. Their relationship became public when Wright threw her a surprise birthday party over the All-Star break in the summer of 2008. Player Wives say the two met at the World Baseball Classic in 2006, and that they have been on and off over the years. The engagement was first reported by ESPNNewYork.
The stunning brunette works for the Ford Model Agency in New York. She has appeared once on the TV show “The Apprentice”.
Wright turned 30 last month. He is entering his 10th season in the bigs. Since making his major league debut with the Mets in 2004, Wright has been a favorite. It’s not uncommon to see his female fans wearing t-shirts reading “Future Mrs. David Wright”.
After manning third base for Team USA in the 2009, Wright will participate once again in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. According to Anthony DiComo, Wright will be participating this year. He will be the only Mets representative as well.
